How do I boil an egg ?

Boiling an egg is one of the easiest things to do in the kitchen but still it manages to perplex people!

1. Boil the kettle with enough water to cover the egg in the pan, once boiled pour in a pan and wait untill the water is bubbling away. If your egg has been in the fridge, prick the round end of it with a pin to prevent it cracking.

2. Place the egg in the pan - dont drop it in or it will crack. Using a spoon will help you with this.

3. For soft boiled eggs, boil for exactly 3 minutes. This will produce an egg with a solid white and a runny yellow yolk.

4. For hard boiled eggs boil for approximately 8 minutes. This will produce an egg with a solid white and yolk, good to use in salads or sandwiches.
